New Member Referral Program

Members, help us in our goal to increase membership in 2015! We have gone to the drawing board to try to find a way to reward you, our valued members, in your attempts to bring us new business. What we came up with was our New Member Referral Program.

Download this Referral card, solicit a new member to join and hand it to them. When they join the Yarmouth Chamber, ask them to return the card with their application. The referring indvidual will be entered in to a drawing at various Business After Hours throughout the year to win prizes like iPads, free website advertising and more. The new member must be enrolled and the card must be returned to our office prior to scheduled networking events.

A “Must See” in Yarmouth

If you haven’t yet been to Gray’s Beach (referred to as Bass Hole by the locals),  or are planning a trip to Yarmouth in the near future, put this location on your list as a “must do” while you’re visiting our lovely town. This 868 foot long boardwalk is located at the mouth of Garden Creek and features gorgeous greenery; extending over the salt marsh allows it to offer an excellent view of coastal plant and marine life.

Love this area? Want to leave your mark permanently? The Yarmouth Parks and Recreation Department has a Boardwalk Plank Program that allows people to pay special tribute to a loved one, commemorate a vacation or honor a person or pet in their life. Planks are engraved with up to 25 letters or characters (including spaces) and will be placed on the boardwalk for everyone to see.

Want to learn more about this area? Check out this video by Christopher Setterlund, author of “In My Footsteps: A Cape Cod Travel Guide”. Christopher was nice enough to share this informative clip about the boardwalk with us. Enjoy!

It’s a Wrap Project

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

The Town of Yarmouth invites residents of all ages and levels of talent to submit electronic proposals for a juried Yarmouth Public Art-Works project.

The Town of Yarmouth Revenue Team has been working diligently towards creating new revenue sources through town promotional programs and proposing options for those funds to be put towards town beautification programs on town property. After conducting a survey to evaluate how the community values the possibility of incorporating public art onto public property, an overwhelming 98% of the 174 survey submissions stated that public art can better define and enhance the community.

You spoke, we listened!!!

The first Yarmouth Public Art-Works program is called “It’s a Wrap” Project. Artwork inspired by the 375th Anniversary logo should be submitted by Yarmouth residents of all ages. The top 8 submissions will have their art work transferred to a 3M vinyl wrap which will cover each of the town owned traffic signal boxes throughout Yarmouth. The results of this program will create visual impact in our community and promote the 375th anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Yarmouth.

Click here for the full details on submission, design criteria and additional information.

The End of an Era

The Mill Hill Club on Route 28 in West Yarmouth holds fond memories for many people. It has also been the source of heated discussions over the years since its closing more than seven years ago. Plans to demolish this dilapidated property are in full swing, with the date yet to be determined but slotted for sometime by the beginning of April.

Per the minutes of the Cape Cod Commission’s meeting on March 28, 2013, in which Mayflower Place’s proposal was approved, the following project was proposed: Mayflower Place, an existing facility with independent living units and a skilled nursing home, proposed the construction of a new, free-standing, 75 unit Memory Care facility, a new wing connected to the existing facility proposed to house 50 independent living units plus one caretaker’s apartment, and associated landscaping, parking, wastewater, drainage, and site upgrades.

Check back often for updates on the date of demolition and the details on the “End of an Era” party at DiParma Italian Table across the street during the demolition! Prime viewing area for what will truly be the end of an era.
